Meet Dasiy Mae

Daisy Mae was born June 19, 1992, one of at least four pups sired by Trouper Zeke and dam Wyo Saint Teresa. Click here to read more about Daisy's heritage. Her racing career began when she was 18 months old. Running under the name Panyo Pooch she chased down fake rabbits at bunny parks in Phoenix and Tucson.

She enjoyed these rabbit eradication programs immensely.....and in the beginning, she was very successful. After two years however, she felt her career was just running in circles. She needed new horizons to follow. With the help of Gary and Lorri Tracy at the Greyhound Adoption League, in Tucson, AZ this former "Follower of Sparky" found herself heading west, on a long, hot and grueling road trip. Her journey ended when she arrived at Retired Racers, Inc. a greyhound adoption ranch, located in Acton, California, and operated by Linda and Larry Brown. Daisy found herself being showered with love from Aunt Linda, and soon learned about everyday dog life.

While living at Retired Racers, Daisy discovered an activity she enjoyed even more than chasing those fake bunnies....a passion so strong and true, it would forever change the course of her life. She had found the joy and harmony which comes from snoozing on a big fluffy pillow, or soft comfortable sofa.

She adopted her first family in January 1996, but alas....things didn't go quite as planned. She returned this family, and headed back to Aunt Linda at Retired Racers. In November 1996, she adopted her second, and current family.......two honorary greyhounds named  Charlie Brown  and Callie,  and a pet human whom everydog calls Pops.

Today, Daisy Mae is happily pursuing a career in the sofa testing and certification industry. She also keeps current on greyhound news from the  Needle Nose Crew,  and fashions from  Duds4Buds,  who offer a wide varity of greyhound coats, slickers, slip collars, and T-shirts.

She is also happy to report than many retired racers no longer have to face the long over-the-road trip she endured. They can now fly to California in first class comfort, thanks to a wonderful organization, Wings For Greyhounds. and it's founder, Maggie McCurry.
